Ronald McDonald House - Amsterdam (NL)

About this project

The façade system Forestlines® by Paulussen was chosen for the beautiful renovation and new construction of the Ronald McDonald House in Amsterdam.

Ronald McDonald Houses VUmc and Emma Amsterdam continued together at one location on 15 March 2022.
Huis Emma then offers a warm home to all families whose child is being treated in the Emma Children's Hospital, part of Amsterdam UMC.
This merger is followed by the Ronald McDonald House merger of the children's departments of Amsterdam UMC.

Heyligers Architects from Amsterdam and Utrecht has been widely known for many years as a high-quality architectural firm that successfully leads the most beautiful designs to an end result.
In each of her designs you will find thoughtful and sometimes even surprising details, this design is no different.
The design of the Ronald McDonald house bears witness to a strong vision of sustainability, materials, quality, etc.

Architects Marleen Valstar and Kevin Odijk van Heyligers are the architects who are tackling this project.
We were contacted and were impressed from the first conversation about the passion and detail.
When we explained our roof and facade system, the smallest detail was sorted out by both architects.
K. Odijk emphasized that the variable widths were of great importance, not only in terms of appearance, but especially from an ecological point of view.
After all, by using narrower 'recovery sizes', the tree trunk is given optimum yield.

A Forestlines® was chosen for facade cladding, roofing and wall cladding (interior).

After the contacts we came into contact with the building party, Salverda from 't Harde (NL).
Salverda quickly presented himself as the perfect extension of Heyligers.
A construction company that prepares itself excellently and uses its technical knowledge to help think about details.

What is a Ronald McDonald House?

Parents, brothers and sisters of a seriously ill child who have been admitted to hospital stay in a Ronald McDonald House. Thanks to this accommodation close to the hospital, parents are always at their child's hospital bed within a few minutes.
Parents pay a personal contribution of € 15 per room per night.
The actual costs of an overnight stay are much higher: € 75 per room, per night.
The difference is paid by donors and sponsors

Houthandel Paulussen supplied the materials for this project. We do not realize projects ourselves, but we can refer you to the right craftsman or specialist.
