Sometimes also called doussié or afzelia doussie.
This type of wood is super stable and does not require special drying for outside. If you use afzelia indoors, the drying depends on the application or whether it needs to be pre-dried.
Afzelia is one of many woods used to imitate mahogany. With little pattern to the grain, the real strength of afzelia is that it is very similar in color to the best mahogany.
It has a relatively coarse texture and requires some knowledge before use, as it can dull the edges of tools quickly, and there are some cross-grained grains here and there.
Compared to afrormosia and padouk, afzelia doussie has a less visible vein.
Although afzelia is not widely available, it should not be too expensive when using sustainable sources. Are you interested in the price of Afzelia? Request a quote without obligation.
